The inaugural Wealth and Society 2018 got to a thought-provoking start with the opening session tracing the evolution of philanthropy and its long term impact on society. Rhodri Davies, head of policy at Charity Aid Foundation and author, and session chairs, Gordian Gaeta and Emmanuel Daniel discussed how government, business and technology influence philanthropy and social impact at large.

The challenges and opportunities that confront philanthropy to bring long-term benefits to society. The diversity in approach and motivation to philanthropy, it is a continuum that considers risk and benefits differently. How taking a financial risk and return approach may or may not hinder longer term social impact and how technology offers the opportunity to create innovations that will make a tangible difference to narrow inequality.
