Net Worth $1.6 billion Mohamed Al-Fayed, Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: born 27 January 1929) is an Egyptian business magnate. Fayed's business interests include ownership of Hôtel Ritz Paris and formerly Harrods Department Store, Knightsbridge. Fayed and his brothers founded a shipping company in Egypt before moving its headquarters to Italy with additional offices in London. During his early career, Fayed met the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who entrusted Fayed with helping transform Dubai, where he set up IMS (International Marine Services) in 1968. Prior to that, he also became financial adviser for Sultan of Brunei Omar Ali Saifuddien III.
