Apex Group builds family office network for co-investments

5 min read

Apex Group, a global financial services provider with more than $3.5 trillion in assets serviced, today announced the launch of  The Inner Circle, an invitation-only network built to solve one of private markets' most persistent challenges: fragmented, overpriced and inconsistent access to co-investment opportunities.

Private capital has never been more abundant. Yet identifying the right opportunities has never been harder to navigate. Today, much of the deal flow moves through a patchwork of banks, brokers, and informal networks, each layer adding cost, delay, and dilution. The Inner Circle was built to remove that friction.

Rather than routing opportunities through intermediaries, The Inner Circle connects families directly. Members originate, evaluate, and share co-investment opportunities with one another, exchanging due diligence, sector expertise, and transparent deal economics with no hidden layers.

Lana Callahan, founder of The Inner Circle and global head of Institutional Allocators at Apex Group, said: "The best opportunities often emerge through conversations and relationships long before a transaction reaches the broader market. We built The Inner Circle for family offices and institutional investors who are looking for a more direct and transparent way to source co-investment opportunities. This is co-investment the way it should work: direct, transparent, and led by the people actually doing the deals."

Peter Hughes, founder and CEO of Apex Group, added: "Success in private markets increasingly depends on access to trusted relationships, informed perspectives, and opportunities that may not be widely available. The Inner Circle reflects our vision of a more connected private markets ecosystem, where qualified family offices and institutional investors can engage directly, share opportunities, and build long-term partnerships. By connecting capital with opportunity in a structured, transparent, and repeatable way, The Inner Circle extends Apex Group's commitment to enhancing collaboration, accelerating discovery, and enabling more efficient execution."

Membership is capped at 100 qualified family offices and institutional allocators worldwide, and is reserved for principals, CIOs, and family members. Membership is by invitation only and subject to a rigorous qualification process to preserve the trust and high standards that define the community.

Members receive:

  • Direct family-to-family co-investment opportunities
  • A curated pipeline sourced exclusively from members, never from outside intermediaries
  • Exclusive, invitation-only gatherings in private settings
  • Shared due diligence and sector expertise from experienced peers
  • Preferred pricing across select Apex Group services and Inner Circle members’ private clubs
  • Expert workshops led by globally recognised industry partners
  • A secure environment for year-round collaboration and investment dialogue

The Inner Circle will convene members at exclusive events throughout the year, where families present investment opportunities directly to one another, creating the foundation for co-investment built on relationships, not transactions.

The inaugural event will take place in Grand Cayman on 13 January  2027.

The Inner Circle is a brand name for the curated network of family offices operated by Apex Group.  Neither Apex Group or The Inner Circle provide any investment, legal or tax advice, participation in The Inner Circle does not guarantee any investment opportunity, allocation, transaction or outcome.
