Combining online and offline products and services

PT Bank Commonwealth’s Women Investment Series (WISE) was launched in 2014 as a financial inclusion programme with the aim to improve the financial wellbeing of women in Indonesia. The programme was improved in 2019 to incorporate various elements that are now delivered both online and offline through the following: educational classes, mobile application, social media content and articles.

The financial portal includes a financial education module for housewives and a women entrepreneur module that now covers a broader segment to include the unbanked, professional and young adults.

Strengthened WISE’s presence in the womenpreneur community in 2019

This year, WISE will run three main programmes with the aim to reach around 2,200 Indonesian womenpreneurs. There is the Mastercard WanWir Fermina, Mastercard MercyCorps and Srikandi Bukalapak.

Working with partners to facilitate financial inclusion

In addition to strategic partnerships with prominent women communities like Ikatan Wanita Pengusaha Indonesia (IWAPI) and Women in Global Business (WIGBI) by Austrade and Feminain, WISE will also launch a technology-enabled mentoring program that will be delivered through online platform and offline events, in collaboration with Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth to enhance formal networks.

WISE will also expand the number of participants through a series of workshops partnering with one of the leading e-commerce partner in Indonesia, Bukalapak, to better achieve nationwide scale and impact by innovating with technology, in addition to investing in research to understand how to advance financial inclusion in Indonesia

About Global Wealth and Society

The Global Wealth and Society programme opened in London in 2018 out of the belief that wealth can be a force for good. As such we look for instances everywhere in the world where wealthy individuals, institutions and funds are targeted to make an impact in their local communities or the world at large.

Impact-minded innovative institutions that are well run should be recognised for their contribution to society through their innovative channels of wealth distribution and sustainable ecosystems. Recipients of these awards underwent a stringent and comprehensive evaluation process.
